This Fellowship Could Change Everything

Lisa Clifford

My State Library of New South Wales Fellowship changed everything for me and nominations are now open for the 2027 Fellowships!

By being awarded this Fellowship, I was able to take my project seriously. It gave me permission to commit to my new book POISED in a way I hadn’t before. I could properly follow leads from the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s modelling and deportment school world, access material I wouldn’t otherwise reach, and develop ideas with depth instead of rushing through history a mad woman.

What surprised me most was how inclusive this opportunity is. You do not need to be an Australian citizen or resident to apply. The Fellowships are open to anyone.

In the Fellows Room at the State Library of New South Wales, with guidance on hand and access to archives, photographs, letters and fragments of other lives, my work on POISED shifted. It became more precise and far more ambitious.

These Fellowships are incredibly generous.
